City Council Regular Meeting - 08/22/05
Minutes - Page 5

responded to Councilmember Schroeder's concerns by
noting that both the Fire and Police Departments had
reviewed the request and had discussions with operators;
and that the materials would primarily consist of office
supplies, and both departments were satisfied that the
proposed storage materials were not a hazard. Mr. Welsch
also noted that staff was of the opinion that the site would
be safer without installation of a fence, thus the exclusion
of that condition.

Councilmember Schroeder questioned proposed refueling
and other operations on the site.

Mr. Welsch advised that there would be no fueling on-site,
and only storage of materials in the trailers.

Councilmember Kough opined that storage of more trailers
would see an increase in wooden pallets and other debris
on the site; and questioned the intent of the owners for
cleaning around and under the trailers to provide sufficient
maintenance.

Mr. Welsch noted that this was a responsibility of the
tenant and owner, and that the owner had specified that
they would use best management practices to keep the lot
clean; and such practices would be monitored by the City's
Code Enforcement staff; and was a standard condition
applied to an interim use permit.

Schroeder moved, Maschka seconded, adopted Resolution
No. 10326 entitled, "A Resolution Approving an Interim
Use Permit for Meritex Enterprises at 2258 to 2280 Walnut
Street (PF 3659);" to allow storage of a maximum of 300
motor freight trailers on a parcel located east of Walnut
Street at the approximate address referenced above; for a
two-year period; based on the comments and conditions of
the staff report dated August 22,2005.

Roll Call
Ayes: Ihlan; Schroeder; Kough; Maschka and Klausing.
Nays: None.
