At its February 11, 1974 hering, the Council requested the Planning Commission
hold a public hearing regarding the iocation of a fire station {Station No. 3)
at Canty Road B-2 and Dale Street. The specific site under consideration is
the property at the northetst corner, for which you will recall, the Ban Con
Corporation recently submifted a proposal to develop three dup[ex units.
2. In the initial planning for the City of Roseville, the intersection of County
Road B-2 and Dale Street was recommended as fhe appropriate site for
Fire $tation No, 3. You will recall that the P3anning Commission has held
hearings regarding the locatian of this station at County Road B and Western
anc) in i-he vicinity of County Road B and Dale Street. Considerafion of siies
along County Road B was given primarily in deference to the ire Department
who noted the location of a core of firemen in the proximity of the County Road
B area, parfiicularly east of Dale Streefi.
3. The sketch at the left indicai-es, by fhe No. 1 in a circle, the location of the
proposed site at the norlheast corner af County Road B-2 and Dale Streef.
After taking off 10 feet of additional right-of-way for County Ropd B-2
and Dale $treet, this site Fias an east-west dimension o 310.39 feef by
i39.66 feet north-south dimension. This produces a total area of apProximately
.99 acres. A site plan has been prepared in conjunction with Chuck Wahlberg's
architectural fir•m suggesting how a station mighf be sited on this property.
You wi I I note that fihe lacic of adequate depi-h necessitptes the development af
a station on an east-west access. We would prefer to have a site plan with the
access of the fire trucks in the station prpendiculqr to the street frontctge.
The Fire Department is anxious, as you know, to have a drive-through station
facilifiy, which allows for a more convenient gqraging of the long hook and
fadder unit contemplated to be housed in fihe station. Another disadvantage
