<br />City Council Regular Meeting - 11128/05 <br />Minutes - Page 8 <br /> <br />10353 entitled, "Resolution Establishing the 2006 Fee <br />Schedule." <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Kough; Ihlan and Klausing. <br />Nays: None. <br /> <br />5. <br /> <br />Recognitions, Donations, Communications <br /> <br />5.a <br /> <br />Proclamation of December 1, 2005 as World AIDS Day <br />City Manager Beets reviewed the proposed proclamation <br />observing World Aids Day in Roseville on December I, <br />2005. <br /> <br />Kough moved, Ihlan declaring December 1,2005 as World <br />AIDS Day in the City of Roseville. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Kough; Ihlan and Klausing. <br />Nays: None. <br /> <br />12. <br /> <br />Consider a Budget Appropriation for a Fiber Optic Network <br />Finance Director Miller reviewed the historical sources of <br />funding for technology improvements within the City. Mr. <br />Miller reviewed service delivery process issues; missed <br />opportunities to cost-share new initiatives with other <br />governmental agencies; and shared goals of various state, county <br />and school agencies and timetable impacts; as well as past and <br />potential duplicity of agencies in pursuing this infrastructure <br />objective. <br /> <br />Mr. Miller advised that the City had been approached by <br />Independent School District (ISD) No. 916 to jointly extend a <br />fiber optic network along Highway 36 from Rice Street to <br />Snelling Avenue; with ISD No. 916 cOilllecting their school at <br />Rice and County Road B-2 to a connection point at Highway 36 <br />and Snelling; eventually allowing them to connect to the TIES <br />facility on Snelling and Larpenteur Avenues.
