<br />Environmental Commissions in the Twin Cities <br /> <br />The following is the result of a brief Web search for municipal environmental commissions in the Twin <br />Cities. The information for each city is taken from their Web site. <br /> <br />Chanhassen <br /> <br />The purpose and responsibility of the Environmental Commission is to provide the residents of <br />Chanhassen with opportunities to improve the quality of their environment, address issues that affect the <br />city's natural resources, provide environmental education to the public, bring a comprehensive perspective <br />to environmental issues, and advocate the benefits and necessity of Chanhassen's natural resources. <br /> <br />Jill Sinclair, Environmental Resources Specialist, at 952-227-1133 or by email at <br />sinclair@ci.chanhassen.mn.us. <br /> <br />Inver Grove Heights <br /> <br />The Environmental Commission is a nine member citizen commission appointed by City Council to <br />review environmental issues including recycling and household hazardous waste collection. The <br />Commission meets the fourth Thursday of the month. <br /> <br />Oakdale <br /> <br />Environmental Management Commission: Oversees the environmental policies of Oakdale, including <br />recycling, and follow changes in environmental issues and regulations. Members serve 3-year, staggered <br />terms and are paid per meeting. <br /> <br />Woodbury <br /> <br />The Environmental Education Commission, composed of seven Woodbury residents, advises the City <br />Council regarding matters relevant to environmental education issues. These include solid waste, air, <br />water, land, energy and other natural resources. The EEC also serves as a forum for the citizens of <br />Woodbury to voice their opinions regarding environmental education. <br /> <br />The commission sponsors a number of events throughout the year including: <br />Environmental Landscape Workshop - March or April <br />Earth Day Cleanup - May <br />Environmental Landscape Tour - July <br />Holiday Card Recycling Program -late December through mid-January <br /> <br />Golden Valley <br /> <br />Environmental Commission (EC) <br />Advises and makes recommendations to the City Council in matters relating to and affecting the <br />enviromnent. Seven members serve three-year staggered terms.
