<br />City Council Study Session - 04/19/04 <br />Minutes - Page 8 <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Ihlan, Kough, Schroeder and Klausing. <br />Nays: None. <br /> <br />4.c Proclaim April 30, 2004 as Arbor Day <br />Ihlan moved, Kough seconded, proclaimed April 30, 2004 <br />as Arbor Day in the City of Roseville. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Ihlan, Kough, Schroeder and Klausing. <br />Nays: None. <br /> <br />5. <br /> <br />Consider Items Removed from the Consent Agenda <br />Mayor Klausing noted that, with the Council's consensus, this <br />item would be delayed until later in the meeting for possible <br />public comment as identified by Councilmember Kough. <br /> <br />6. <br /> <br />Review of Citizen Advisory Commissions: Receive <br />Applications for Vacancies on the Planning Commission and <br />the Parks and Recreation Commission; Council Guidance <br />about Next Steps <br />City Manager Beets reviewed the background and application <br />process to-date for one vacancy on the Planning Commission <br />and two vacancies of the Parks and Recreation Commission. Mr. <br />Beets noted that seven applications had been received for each of <br />the respective commissions, with two applicants applying for <br />both commissions (i.e., twelve applicants submitting fourteen <br />applications). Mr. Beets requested Council direction as to the <br />next step in the process; noting several alternate dates provided <br />by staff for Council consideration in scheduling potential <br />interviews of candidates. Mr. Beets reviewed past practice of <br />allotting ten Ininutes per interview, and given the number of <br />applicants, necessitating approximately two hours for interviews, <br />in addition to regular Council business if a regular Council <br />meeting date were selected for interviews.
