City Council Study Session - 04/19/04
Minutes - Page 9

Mayor Klausing suggested scheduling interviews at 5:00 p.m. on
one of the other regular meeting dates and pushing back the time
of the regular meeting as recommended by staff.

Councilmember Schroeder suggested splitting interviews to be
held on two different nights to accommodate the regular business
agenda.

Mayor Klausing declined to concur, rationalizing that those
candidates not yet interviewed would be observing interviews via
the cable prior to their interviews.

City Manager Beets noted that all three meetings in May had
substantial regular business items for consideration.

Mayor Klausing sought Council consensus for holding the
interviews on Monday, May 10,2004 at 5:00 p.m.

Kough moved, Ihlan seconded, scheduling a Special Council
meeting to interview applicants for the City's Planning
Commission and/or Parks and Recreation Commission for
Monday, May 10, 2004, with interviews beginning at 5:00 p.m.
and the regular business portion of the meeting delayed until
7:00 p.m. Mayor Klausing requested modification of the motion,
with the concurrence of the makers of the motion, for staff to
request the attendance of the Chairs of the Planning Commission
and Parks & Recreation Commission at the interviews, as per
past practice.

A brief discussion was held as to the actual swearing-in of the
new Councilmember prior to, or at the May 10, 2004 meeting.

Roll Call
Ayes: Ihlan, Kough, Schroeder and Klausing.
Nays: None.

John Kysylyczyn, 3083 N Victoria Street
Mr. Kysylyczyn reiterated his previous comments regarding
appointment by Councilmembers of campaign workers and/or
donors to citizen advisory commissions.
