<br />City Council Study Session - 05/17/04 <br />Minutes - Page 5 <br /> <br />Ms. Hoag briefly reviewed the Keep Roseville Beautiful <br />campaign, noting its success, enthusiastic volunteers and <br />cooperative weather. Ms. Hoag noted that there were 200 plus <br />bags of litter collected during the campaign with the project <br />concentrating on city rights-of-way and park areas, with state and <br />county-controlled areas along Highway 36 and Snelling Avenue <br />also cleaned. Ms. Hoag noted that several volunteers had <br />expressed interest in this becoming an annual campaign and staff <br />sought consideration by the City Council for funding to do so. <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing opined that the campaign had accomplished a <br />tremendous amount under a limited budget. <br /> <br />City Manager Beets also expressed appreciation to Ms. Hoag for <br />her coordination of the program, noting it came in slightly under <br />budget; and also recognized Ms. Hoag's coordination of that <br />program while coordinating special municipal elections. <br /> <br />City Manager Beets presented proclamations to Ms. Hoag, and <br />Mr. Obeda who was present in the audience, along with special <br />tokens of appreciation for their contribution to the campaign. <br />Mr. Beets noted proclamations to other participants would be <br />delivered. <br /> <br />City Manager Beets also presented a proclamation to <br />Councilmember Kough for his spearheading of this campaign, <br />and dubbed Councilmember Kough as "Roseville's Mr. Clean" <br />with appropriate advertising. <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing, on behalf of the City Council, the community, <br />and staff, again expressed appreciation to Ms. Hoag, <br />Councilmember Kough, staff and the volunteers who assisted in <br />the clean up process. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kough specifically recognized Mr. Stanley <br />Lindberg, a long-time resident of the community, for his <br />continuing efforts to keep the community beautiful. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kough, on a related note, pointed out a current <br />City Ordinance regarding Councilmembers not being reimbursed <br />for expenses, due to the compensation they currently receive as <br />
