City Council Study Session - 05/17/04
Minutes - Page 7

6. Consider Holding a Joint Meeting with the Roseville School
Board
Mayor Klausing requested City Council comment and consensus
on the proposed meeting date of Thursday, June 17, 2004 for a
joint meeting with the Roseville School District No. 623 Board
at the Board's scheduled Work Session. Mayor Klausing noted
that Councilmember Kough had an existing conflict.

Councilmember Schroeder clarified his comments related to
agenda items proposed on the draft agenda, noting that there
were some of those agenda items that took higher priority than
other programs that were ongoing and that the draft agenda as
proposed was too extensive to allow adequate discussion time for
those items he perceived to be of vital importance (i.e., Item iii.
"to continually improve service deliver to senior citizens;" and
Item iv. "to continue to appropriately manage taxpayer money
through joint, City-District activities," and their sub-topics).

City Manager Beets concurred with Councilmember Schroeder's
reaction to the proposed agenda, noting staff s desire to provide a
broad base of options to be narrowed down through initial review
by the City Council and School Board to those items most
pertinent.

When alternate dates were discussed for a joint meeting, City
Manager Beets noted that the School Board was not scheduled to
meet in July, and only one meeting was scheduled in August and
their agenda would probably be full without adding a dedicated
discussion to the agenda.

Councilmember Kough expressed his desire to be present at the
meeting, and his preference for the full Council to be
represented.

Discussion included alternate meetings dates, times, locations
and formats; with Mayor Klausing expressing his willingness to
schedule a Special Council meeting to accommodate the multiple
schedules of each respective entity.

Councilmember Maschka noted that he had a conflict on the June
17, 2004 date as well.
