<br />City Council Regular Meeting - 12/19/05 <br />DRAFT Minutes - Page 8 <br /> <br />the Council's rezoning authority not including specific uses or a <br />site plan for this particular request. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schroeder arrived at this time; at 6:40 p.m. <br /> <br />Ihlan moved, Kough seconded, denial of the request for rezoning <br />of 1800 Highway 36 from B-1 Limited Business District to B-2 <br />Retail Business District, based on peripheral residential uses; the <br />general retail uses allowed in B-1 zoning, with no indication they <br />would not be applicable to the proposed uses; and the proximity <br />of the development to a State and/or County Road and projected <br />traffic congestion issues. <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing spoke in opposition to the motion; opining that <br />re-use of the site would prove more beneficial to the <br />neighborhood and community than the current vacant status of <br />the property. <br /> <br />Councilmember Maschka expressed concern about taking action <br />without the applicant/property owner being present at tonight's <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Councilmember Ihlan withdrew her original motion to deny the <br />request. <br /> <br />Klausing moved, Ihlan seconded, tabling the item until the <br />regular City Council meeting scheduled for January 9, 2006, to <br />allow the developer to attend the meeting. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Kough; Maschka; Ihlan; Schroeder and Klausing. <br />Nays: None. <br /> <br />5. <br /> <br />Recognitions, Donations, Communications <br /> <br />5.a Recognition of Councilmember Greg Schroeder <br />No action. <br /> <br />Recognitions, <br />Donations, <br />Communications <br /> <br />Councilmember <br />Greg Schroeder <br />
