<br />City Council Study Session - 06/21/04 <br />Minutes - Page 27 <br /> <br />as proposed for their storage needs. <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing opined his general support of abatement for the <br />Station, but noted that, as this is a Study Session, he preferred to <br />take action through the Consent Agenda at a future regular <br />meeting. Mayor Klausing sought consensus of the City Council <br />regarding whether additional information were needed. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schroeder sought additional information and <br />questioned whether this station was needed at all; pending <br />further study on the City's existing fire stations and possible <br />consolidation of operations. Councilmember Schroeder opined <br />that, prior to making a decision to repair the building, that issue <br />needed to be addressed. <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing noted that, with administrative functions <br />moving to the Public Safety building, whether the building were <br />used as a fire station or not, the Council may wish to consider <br />making it available for other issues, warranting its repair. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schroeder questioned the wisdom of spending a <br />substantial amount of money (Le., $40,000 - 50,000) to repair a <br />building that was no longer needed; and reiterated his request for <br />additional information related to a fire station study to determine <br />if this building were needed. <br /> <br />City Manager Beets responded that a study, which included <br />options, background, call analysis and other details, had been <br />presented to the City Council several years ago, with no resulting <br />Council action taken. Mr. Beets noted that additional follow up <br />discussions ensued during the global discussion regarding future <br />public safety needs. Mr. Beets noted that the fire station was still <br />being used, the mold was in existence, and that it needed to be <br />addressed. <br /> <br />Maschka moved, Ihlan seconded, approval of the bid from <br />Envirotech Radiation Services, in an amount not to exceed <br />$30,417.99, for mold abatement; and authorizing staff to proceed <br />with drain repairs and ventilation improvements. <br /> <br />Councilmember Maschka noted that additional storage and/or <br />
