<br />City Council Regular Meeting - 09/27/04 <br />Minutes - Page 26 <br /> <br />concluded by speaking in support of continuing to pursue these <br />opportunities through the next stage. <br /> <br />Councilmember Ihlan responded to fellow Council comments, <br />opining that by withdrawing from the exclusive negotiations <br />agreement, it would not "pull the plug" on the project and they <br />could continue through the Planning Commission phase, but that <br />it would define the City's role and slow the process to provide <br />further consideration. <br /> <br />Councilmember Ihlan continued to reiterate her preVIOUS <br />positions. <br /> <br />Councilmember requested a point of clarification fronl the Chair; <br />questioning the need for further comment. <br /> <br />The Chair allowed additional comments to continue. <br /> <br />Councilmember Ihlan continued her rebuttal of Council <br />comments in opposition to her alternate resolution proposal and <br />motion. <br /> <br />Joe Machyowsky, 2690 N Oxford Street <br />Mr. Machyowsky spoke in support and noted that he completely <br />agreed with the enlightened positions of Councilmembers Ihlan <br />and Kough. Mr. Machyowsky opined that the community had <br />become persuaded that the proposed Twin Lakes Redevelopment <br />project was not a good thing for the community; and encouraged <br />the City Council to reconfirm their commitment and dedication <br />to the welfare of those who elected the Council, by voting "no" <br />to this financial proposal at this time, showing that they consider <br />the welfare of the community ahead of any special interest <br />groups. Mr. Machyowsky further opined that such Council <br />action would be rewarded with an outpouring of appreciation and <br />goodwill throughout the community. <br /> <br />Karen Milton, 2939 Mildred Drive (E Side of Langton Lake) <br />Ms. Milton expressed her opposition to the project and her <br />concerns regarding detriments to Langton Lake and its natural <br />state; increased traffic; her lack of support for subsidizing private <br />development; and alleged campaign contributions to at least four <br />
