City Council Regular Meeting - 12/06/04
Minutes - Page 34

9.

Consider a Council Meeting Calendar for 2005
City Manager Beets provided, for purposes of notifying the
public and media, a proposed 2005 meeting schedule, similar to
that used in 2004, with an average of three meetings per month;
with the second and fourth Mondays of each month for regular
business meetings; and the third Monday reserved for Council
Study Sessions. Mr. Beets addressed the proposed Town Hall
meeting schedule at four to accommodate each of the four
quadrants of the City and proposed to be held on February 24,
March 14, April 11 and April 25, 2005 at various locations. Mr.
Beets addressed the one deviation for a Thursday meeting
proposed for February 24, 2005, due to the Presidents' Day
Holiday schedule. Mr. Beets sought Council guidance and
direction.

Councilmember Kough noted several personal conflicts In
scheduled dates.

Mayor Klausing noted that each individual Councilmember may
realize personal conflicts in the schedule.

John Kysylyczyn, 3083 N Victoria Street
Mr. Kysylyczyn opined that the Town Hall meetings held in
2004 were a total waste of time and had calculated the cost for
each citizen in attendance at the meetings.

Councilmember Schroeder noted that he has scheduling conflicts
when the schedule deviated from the Monday night schedule;
and opined he didn't see the need for four Town Hall meetings,
suggesting a central location for one meeting.

Councilmember Maschka opined that he could support four
Town Hall meetings to allow more individualized contact and
citizen input, but suggested that one or more be held on a
Saturday at the OVAL.

Mayor Klausing questioned how one meeting at the OVAL was
different than a regular Council meeting; and opined his
favorable impression of the Town Hall meetings held in 2004 as
productive, with good comments and discussion.

Council Meeting
Calendar for 2005
