Whereas: Whereas: Whereas: Nhereas: Whereas: Whereas: Whereas: Proclamation Maureen Sikorra Day March 18 2003 the Minnesota Association of Women Police (MAWP) named Roseville Juvenile Police Officer Maureen Sikorra as the 2002 Minneapolis Police Officer Melissa Schmidt Community Service Award winner; and the award, named after Officer Melissa Schmidt who lost her life in the line of duty is given to a women officer who has demonstrated excellent skills related to everyday police work including investigative work, street activity and leadership as well as designing, implementing and participating in community or school activities; and Maureen has been a police officer for Roseville since 1991. She worked on the patrol division and was a DARE officer and a Juvenile Investigator; and Maureen began a Cops and Kids Mentoring Program where police officers are paired with at-risk youths in the community and she established.a Parent Support Group for parents who need peer support and professional guidance Maureen established a Teen Support Group that teaches teens how to manage power struggles in peaceful ways; and Maureen has received commendations for her police work including letters of appreciation from coworkers, the community and several law enforcement agencies. the City of Roseville is committed to recognizing and honoring the outstanding contributions of City employees.
