<br />The voting equipment can be programmed to reject <br />ballots which do not rank all choices properly. In that <br />event, the election judge would need to ask the voter <br />about his or her intent. <br /> <br />For "candidate in more than one choice," the <br />following script is recommended: <br /> <br />In at least one of the races, you ranked the <br />same candidate two or three times. Was <br />that your intent? Your second and third <br />choices only count if your previous choice is <br />eliminated. Therefore, voting for the same <br />candidate twice is the same as voting for <br />that candidate once. <br /> <br />For overvotes: <br /> <br />In at least one of the races, your first, <br />second, or third choice has two or more <br />selections. You can only choose one <br />candidate per column, so your choices in <br />that race won't count. Do you wish to correct <br />your ballot? <br />
