Recreation Majerus to Recreation B. Memorial Park Concept Kysylyczyn moved, Schroeder seconded, establishing Memorial Park and directed the Parks and Recreation Commission to implement the area identified in Mayor Kysylyczyn's proposal dated June 2,2003 as a designated park. Mayor Kysylyczyn reviewed his proposal for the designation of "Memorial Park" at the center of Civic Center of Campus, southwest of the entrance to the new Public Works Department and Office for the purpose of establishment of memorials recognizing service and sacrifices of veterans, police officers and firefighters. Mayor Kysylyczyn recommended that construction of the park be under the direction of staff members Duane Schwartz in conjunction with the overall referendum proj ect; and Lonnie Brokke as Director of the Parks and Recreation Department. Mayor Kysylyczyn further advised that he had held preliminary meetings with the Veterans of Foreign Wars (FVW), American Legion, Police Department, Fire Department and Parks and Recreation staff to determine their interest; and recommended they each be an active participant in planning the design and use of this area.
