<br />Regular City Council Minutes - 6/02/03 <br />Page 28 <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn directed Parks and <br />Director Brokke directed to contact Ryan <br />attend tomorrow night's Parks and <br />Commission meeting if possible. <br /> <br />Recreation <br />Majerus to <br />Recreation <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />Memorial Park Concept <br />Kysylyczyn moved, Schroeder seconded, establishing <br />Memorial Park and directed the Parks and Recreation <br />Commission to implement the area identified in Mayor <br />Kysylyczyn's proposal dated June 2,2003 as a designated <br />park. <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn reviewed his proposal for the <br />designation of "Memorial Park" at the center of Civic <br />Center of Campus, southwest of the entrance to the new <br />Public Works Department and Office for the purpose of <br />establishment of memorials recognizing service and <br />sacrifices of veterans, police officers and firefighters. <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn recommended that construction of the <br />park be under the direction of staff members Duane <br />Schwartz in conjunction with the overall referendum <br />proj ect; and Lonnie Brokke as Director of the Parks and <br />Recreation Department. <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn further advised that he had held <br />preliminary meetings with the Veterans of Foreign Wars <br />(FVW), American Legion, Police Department, Fire <br />Department and Parks and Recreation staff to determine <br />their interest; and recommended they each be an active <br />participant in planning the design and use of this area. <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn reviewed his proposal: <br /> <br />Estimated Item Anticipated <br />Date Fiscal Implications <br />4/03 Inception of proposal and concept $0 (Mayor's Time) <br /> approval by groups. <br />5/03 Division of proposal into two plans: $0- $50 (Mayor's time <br /> 1) Site preparation and 1 hour staff time) <br /> 2) Monuments $0 (No work requested <br /> at present <br />6/2/03 Presentation to Council.
