<br />Regular City Council Minutes - 6/02/03 <br />Page 30 <br /> <br />0 The tax increase due to the voter-approved referendum is <br /> consistent with published information distributed prior to <br /> the vote <br />0 Designated funds to Fire Relief Association shall be <br /> segregated from the Fire Department budget <br />0 Special contingency fund of $75,000 shall be established <br /> for the purpose of addressing the ongoing personal legal <br /> attacks against the Mayor <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn sought comment from Finance <br />Director Miller as to the similarity of the preliminary <br />budget being prepared by staff to that proposed by him. <br /> <br />Finance Director Miller responded that staff is currently <br />anticipating presentation of a "0" percent levy increase <br />for the initial budget packet to be presented to the City <br />Council. <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn identified several unknown factors at <br />this time (i.e., the presentation to the City Council by the <br />HRA their budget and levy request; further review of Fire <br />Relief funding as addressed by two State Statutes <br />previously provided by Mayor K; and necessary <br />flexibility for staff concerns). <br /> <br />Considerable discussion ensued regarding the fourth note <br />regarding a contingency fund for legal expenses. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schroeder stated that he was anxiously <br />awaiting staffs draft budget. <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn again asked Finance Director Miller if <br />staff was in agreement with the proposed budget targets, <br />and the additional notes; with Mr. Miller responding <br />affirmatively to the first three noted as listed above, and <br />advising that staff would proceed according to the <br />direction provided by Council. <br /> <br />Finance Director Miller advised that the City had monies <br />set aside for any deductibles incurred related to any <br />litigation, with the fund balance at approximately $1 <br />Million. <br />
