Mayor Klausing suggested a better approach may be <br />to approach MnDOT for updated accident data and whether their <br />original safety concerns are still evident. <br /> <br />Discussion included further negotiations with MnDOT; staff <br />time involved with another Task Force; specific charge to the <br />Task Force; consensus of the neighbors for a preferred plan; and <br />neighborhood relationship alienation concerns. <br /> <br />Public Comment <br />Al Sands, 2612 Aldine <br />Mr. Sands read his prepared statement; opInIng changing <br />personnel at the state level and the solutions found in the <br />temporary access may prove beneficial to the City's needs. Mr. <br />Sands suggested that the PWET provide recommendation and <br />requested that the City Council re-engage IvInDOT; ensuring <br />emergency vehicle access in the neighborhood; and elimination <br />of the "right turn only" signs previously required on Oakcrest. <br /> <br />Mr. Sands suggested that the City Council provide only a <br />maximum of two options for residents to consider, those most <br />feasible from staff and the City Council's best judgment. <br /> <br />John Kysylyczyn, 3083 N Victoria Street <br />Mr. Kysylyczyn opined that it was the City Council's job as <br />elected officials to make tough decisions; that the money was <br />available from reserves; that the PWET hold hearings and <br />provide a recommendation to the City Council for moving <br />forward; while at the same time, the Mayor diligently seek a <br />solution through dialogue with MnDOT and the State. <br /> <br />Craig Christenson, 2585 Wheeler Avenue N <br />Mr. Christianson provided a bench handout with several options <br />he had drawn out for potential solutions; and at a minimum <br />asked that, if MnDOT closed the current access, that they berm <br />and screen Snelling A venue on the west side from Rosebrook <br />Park for aesthetics, as well as noise concerns. <br />Mr. Christianson opined that the State would most likely close <br />the Snelling Avenue access as traffic increased, but proposed that <br />the City Council argue that it be kept open as long as possible. <br />
