Consider Motorcycles in the Roseville Police Consider <br />Department Motorcycles in the <br />Councilmember Kough advised Councilmembers of his Roseville Police <br />and Mayor Kysylyczyn's meeting with St. Paul Police Department <br />Chief Finney to investigate the City of Roseville's use of <br />motorcycle patrols, as a follow-up to the Police <br />Departments' request and subsequent Council denial, for <br />use of all-terrain vehicles (ATV's) for patrolling City <br />parks. Councilmember Kough provided brief information <br />regarding a program available allowing government <br />entities to lease motorcycles for $1 annually, exclusive of <br />costs for lights, sirens, radios, and other equipment for <br />officers using the cycles. <br /> <br />Kough moved, Schroeder seconded, directing the City <br />Manager to include consideration of a motorcycle patrol in <br />the proposed 2004 Preliminary Budget. <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn stated that additional information was <br />needed regarding potential liability issues for the City <br />related to accident rates and Workers Compensation. <br /> <br />Council consensus was not achieved during the ensuing <br />discussion. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Schroeder, Kough and Kysylyczyn. <br />Nays: Maschka and Klausing. <br /> <br />B. City Health Care Issues <br />Kysylyczyn moved, Kough seconded, directing staff and <br />the City Attorney to draft a resolution for presentation at <br />the July 28, 2003 regular Council meeting for <br />consideration of extending the medical portion of the <br />Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) benefits from <br /> <br />City Health Care <br />Issues <br />
