<br />Regular City Council Minutes - 8/11/03 <br />Page 20 <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />Council Compensation/Benefits <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn addressed the information provided by <br />the City Attorney's office related to a proposed change in <br />Council benefits; and Stanton Five comparisons for <br />benefits and compensation for elected officials. Mayor <br />Kysylyczyn opined that, while the Stanton Five <br />information provided an interesting statistical analysis, it <br />provided for no meaningful comparison. <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn proposed several items for <br />consideration prior to the upcoming election related to <br />Council compensation issues: <br />1) Review of health insurance to allow those interested <br />in pursuing Council service to the community the <br />ability to do so while being able to have adequate <br />health insurance; <br />2) Cell phone reirnbursernent; <br />3) Transfer of appropriate phone calls from the City <br />Hall phone system to Councilmembers' home <br />phones; <br />4) Annual salary adjustments at the rate of inflation or <br />in conjunction with those increases approved for <br />City employees. <br /> <br />Councilmember Klausing sought clarification from Mayor <br />Kysylyczyn on his intent with the discussion. <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn identified the proposed revisions and <br />relationship to mandated considerations within the election <br />cycle for consideration of Council benefit and/or <br />compensation revisions. <br /> <br />Councilmember Klausing sought information from Mayor <br />Kysylyczyn as to the status of previous applications <br />received for a Compensation Committee. <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn and Councilmember Klausing differed <br />on their recollection of the quantity of applications <br />received. <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn expressed his preference for a more in- <br /> <br />Council <br />Compensation <br />
