1059 Woodhill Drive

Roseville, MN 55113

November 12, 2003

'l'
J.O

Mayor John Kysylyczyn and Roseville Ciy Council:

It has recently come to my attention that the funding
for Northwest Youth and Family Services in the Roseville
Budget for 2004 is being considered for reduction by some
members of the Council.

As an original member of the board of directors of the
agency for its first ten years, and a continuous supporter
of the good work the agency has done in more than 25 years,
1 urge you to continue to support NYFS at at least the current
level of $44,000, and to consider increasing that amount by
the rate of inflation, about 2.5%.

Kay Andrews, Director of the agency, informs me that it
costs between $200 and $300 for diversion for each case, with
only a 12% recidivism rate. This, of course, means that many
thousands of dollars of local tax dollars are saved by the
services which the agency provides. Roseville Police Department
regularly refers cases, as does the School District 623.

An enthusiastic tllank you to those of you who have consistently
supported Northwest Youth and Family Services in the past. 1
strongly urge all of you to provide continuing support for this
very important organization, community-wide supported, tax
saving, family helping, CHILD SAVING agency!!
Sincerely,
i /
l ( VI
Ann Berry

(l~, ~~J'-'9J' i//,~
