<br />City Council Regular Meeting - 05/08/06 <br />Minutes - Page 9 <br /> <br />Councilmember Kough questioned the need for of $5,000 <br />installation of an irrigation system when the prairie grass <br />was used surrounding City Hall to avoid such expenses of <br />lawn maintenance. Councilmember Kough also <br />questioned why the City was utilizing the services of <br />ChemLawn and contract maintenance for lawn mowing. <br /> <br />City Manager Beets noted that ChemLawn was spraying <br />herbicide for dandelions, and were not mowing. Mr. Beets <br />further noted that when the original irrigation system was <br />installed on the turf areas, it was kept to a minimum to <br />save money, but with practical use, it was determined that <br />the area at the intersection of County Road C and Civic <br />Center Drive, needed additional irrigation as opposed to <br />labor expenses to move hoses to water the area, especially <br />with the steep slope and difficulty maintaining water on <br />the slope. <br /> <br />Maschka moved, Pust seconded, approval of general <br />purchases and/or contracts for services as follows: <br /> <br />Vendor Item/Description Amount <br />Albrecht Irrigation Install City Hall irrigation system $8,178.00 <br />Pipe Services Co.
