adopted by the Commission, may clarify and expedite the way in which diverse
programs are supported, sponsored and promoted.
IV. Marriage Amendment Advisory Meeting (Tue, April 3d, 6:30 pm Fireside Room)
a. Invitations: An invitation was sent by staff, via email, to all addresses
provided by attendees at the Project 515 program.
i. This was an open meeting (with a quorum of the Commission), and it
was noticed for the public at large.
b. Purpose of the Meeting: The purpose of this meeting was two-fold.
i. Invite comments on the possibility of the HRC taking a position,
similar to the League of Minnesota Human Rights Commissions, in
opposition to the Marriage Amendment.
1. Feedback for Commission: There were nine attendees (in
addition to Commissioners). Attendees overwhelmingly
supported the HRC taking a position in opposition to the
Marriage Amendment.
ii. Inquire into the Advisory Group's suggestions on future programming
related to the Marriage Amendment.
1. Action Item for Commission: Per consensus at this meeting,
the Committee recommends that HRC Youth Commissioners
be requested to work with the Gay-Straight Alliance at
Roseville Area High School in order to support programming
(relevant to the GSA's interests) for the community.
2. No further decisions on future programming were made at the
meeting, though suggestions from the group were collected
(as well as feedback/discussion on proposals). After we gain
clarity on the parameters for programming, the Program
Planning Committee will research and consider the proposals
from the Advisory Group.
V. Book Club: The book club has been rescheduled for May 7t" at 7:00 pm at Cafe
Zia. Commissioner Thao will select a reading and create a flyer for this event.
Staff will be asked to advertise it in the City News and the Roseville Review, as
well as via email to the HRC list-serve.
Respectfully submitted,
