GOMMITTEE <br />REPORT <br />PREPARED ON <br />APRIL 1 O, <br />20i2 <br />. � � <br />�� � � � <br />PROGRAM <br />PLANNING <br />COMMITTEE <br />Vy���Y <br />� <br />HUMAN RIGHTS <br />GOMMISSION <br />MEETING <br />OF <br />APRIL 18, <br />2012 <br />Program Planning Committee Report <br />(Meetings: March 27, 2012 and April9tb, 2012) <br />Attendance (March 27th and April 9th): Commissioner Brisbois, Commissioner <br />Grefenberg, Commissioner poneen, Commissioner Thao. <br />Also present (March 27`h) was City Council Member Bob Willmus and City staff. <br />Community Forum on Marriage Amendment (Thur., May 10tn) <br />The Human Rights Commission Chair had asked for the Committee's thoughts and <br />recommendation on how this special Commission meeting should be organized. <br />a. Invitations: All Roseville residents are invited to attend the forum. The event <br />will be publicized in the May-June City News and local media. <br />i. The Committee agreed on the verbiage of the announcement� and <br />additional verbiage will be added by Staff for future press releases so <br />that the public understand that the HRC is considering supporting a <br />resolution similar to the League's Resolution opposing the Marriage <br />Amendment. <br />ii. The Committee agreed that it was important to be clear about the <br />intent of the meeting, sharing that the issue up for Commission <br />consideration was whether the Commission should oppose (rather <br />than "support or oppose") the Marriage Amendment. <br />b. Purpose of the Meeting: The purpose of this meeting is to listen to the views <br />of Roseville residents on the question of whether or not the Roseville Human <br />Rights Commission should take a position opposing the Marriage <br />Amendment (in a way similar to the League's resolution in opposition to it). <br />c. Forum (Process for Meeting): The committee decided to recommend that <br />this special commission meeting was more of a community forum than a <br />public hearing. Therefore it recommends that the special meeting be called a <br />Community Forum. For the purpose of hearing from Roseville residents as to <br />
