City Council Minutes - 06/03/02
Page 6

postage
Mailing cost per issue is about $2,500.
Roll Call, Ayes: Kough, Klausing, Schroeder,
Maschka and Kysylyczyn. Nays: none.

III. Public Comment
A. Hilaby Peterson Hirtsh-935 Roselawn
Incinerator in home council would turn down--logic says
incinerator should not be in a residential environment.
Study sited on pg 2 slanted and biased. People choose to
work in industrial area, know the risks, people do not
choose to live next to a crematory. Study on pg 3
regarding McCarrons--Como is closer.

B. Darry Hertsh-935 Roselawn
There are a lot of unknowns. Analogy: yearly physical--
hoping to prevent the unknown. Asking the council to
do Preventative Medicine. Kysylyczyn's response on
historical perspective--all communities finds it necessary
to change zoning. Changing zoning is the best option.

C. Chris Beardsley-1754 Alameda St.
It is agreed upon by residents and Crematory there will
always be chemicals emitted, but at what levels, studies
cannot show good or bad levels of emissions. Another
concern, enforcement of removal of implants, seeds,
pace makers.
The amount of mercury in McCarrons tripling is very
troubling. Appreciates viewpoints of Klausing and
Maschka. Industrial areas have more latitude with stack
heights more air cleaners. Emissions are better
controlled in industrial areas. Would also support the
ban of crematories in the city all together. Also a
concern is how do we regulate the crematory.

D. Mary Bakeman-resident
Saturday, June 8, 2002, 10:00a.m. will be the unveiling
of interpretive marker at Lexington Park. (comer of Co.
Rd. B and Lexington) They will be planting two trees
for Bob Bierscheid, and George Lindgren.
