<br />City Council Regular Meeting - 07/10/06 <br />Minutes - Page 9 <br /> <br />Maintenance staff and their quality and efficient work. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pust sought Commission's advocacy and <br />education of the public in how to involve citizens more in <br />understanding that the quality of life enjoyed by the <br />community involved adequate funding and encouraged the <br />Commissioners to serve as the City's ambassadors to let the <br />public know about the great value they received for their <br />local tax dollars to allow the City Council the political <br />energy to solve financial issues. Councilmember Pust <br />noted the envious assets within the community and <br />encouraged the Commission to provide the City Council <br />with strategic plans to maintain and enhance those <br />amenities over the next 20-30 years, so another "OVAL" <br />crisis situation didn't develop. <br /> <br />How can we best work together to accomplish this goal <br />to restore and properly maintain what we have? How <br />do we best work together? <br />Councilmember Pust opined that the City Council should <br />use the Commission more for analysis and <br />recommendations to provide better information for Council <br />policy decisions. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kough encouraged one-on-one contact <br />from Commissioners and enthusiastically supported <br />keeping our current amenities. <br /> <br />Chair Johnson concluded this part of the discussion by <br />seeking Council direction and criteria for how to use the <br />Commission to get the infonnation they needed and the <br />role of the Commission. <br /> <br />2.d Other discussion items: Fairview Community Center <br />and surrounding green space <br />Mayor Klausing noted that Fairview was a School District <br />facility and recognized Ms. Sally Latimer, representing the <br />Roseville School District, seeking her comment. <br /> <br />Ms. Latimer addressed the Owasso facility and noted that <br />the Cable Commission's lease was up in August of 2007 <br />
