Process for Hiring a City Manager Process for Hiring <br />Human Resources Director Eldona Bacon reviewed preVIOUS a City Manager <br />discussions and provided additional information related to the <br />City Manager replacement process and timeline. <br /> <br />Discussion included search and time line options and process; <br />City Council, Commission, staff and public involvement; <br />potential budget; some search firms willingness to de-bundle <br />their proposals; comfort, capability and willingness of staff to <br />proceed with City Council direction; and cost-efficiencies of <br />various searches. <br /> <br />Staff identified the following options for City Council <br />consideration: <br />· Option 1 <br />Approve getting bids to select a search firm to conduct a <br />full search. <br />· Option 2 <br />Approve a budget of at least $12,000 for staff to move <br />forward immediately under Council direction and <br />approvals to establish a staff and an external stakeholder <br />committee to develop a profile and detailed timeline with <br />Eldona Bacon as the project lead. <br />· Option 3 <br />Approve staff to gather internal applications for the <br />position and conduct only an internal candidate search and <br />hire from within. <br />· Option 4 <br />Wait three to six months to see how the Interim City <br />Manager is doing; and if all is well, appoint him. <br />
