Councilmember <br />Ihlan opined that it was important to maintain reasonable and <br />effective response times during daytime hours for public safety <br />expectations of the citizens and visitors to Roseville. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pust sought assurances from Chief Gasaway that <br />all part-time department staff was eligible to apply for the full- <br />time positions; and that the internal hiring process would be fair <br />and open. <br /> <br />Chief Gasaway assured Councilmembers that the application <br />process would be a fair and open process. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kough questioned why the supervisor position <br />was proposed as permanent, and not temporary. <br /> <br />Chief Gasaway advised that in order to attract qualified <br />candidates with a higher skill set, it was prudent to attract them <br />from a current career. <br /> <br />Councilmember Maschka clarified that the City Council was <br />supporting hiring of three full-time positions to the Fire <br />Department. <br /> <br />Restatement of the Original Motion, as Amended: <br />Klausing moved, Ihlan seconded, approval of the Fire <br />Department hiring one regular full-time supervisor, two limited- <br />term full-time employees as amended with the provision that the <br />Fire Chief would take action within the next three months to <br />propose a by-law revision to address the double pension benefit, <br />to be voted on at the next membership meeting of the <br />Firefighters Relief Association. <br /> <br />Roll Call [Original Motion as Amended] <br />Ayes: Ihlan; Pust and Klausing. <br />Nays: Maschka and Kough. <br /> <br />9. <br /> <br />Call a Special City Council Meeting at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, <br />August 21, 2006 to Interview Applicants for the Planning and <br />Ethics Commissions <br /> <br />Special City <br />Council Meeting <br />Interview for the <br />Planning and <br />
