<br />City Council Regular Meeting - 08/14/06 <br />Minutes - Page 5 <br /> <br />Department; data privacy and equal opportunity employment <br />issues related to hiring of employees and destruction of those <br />hiring records in accordance with law. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pust opined that the issues raised by the HRC <br />would make for good discussion between the HRC and Police <br />Chief Sletner in addressing residential concerns; and suggested <br />the HRC work with School Districts, perhaps by pooling <br />resources, in surveying the community's diversity and needs. <br /> <br />Chair Delmore volunteered that the HRC would implement ways <br />to get more involved in the community. <br /> <br />Further discussion included the expertise of the HRC; connection <br />of the Roseville HRC with the community and State Human <br />Rights Commission; and integration with the City's Police <br />Department. <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing noted that the City Council would be supportive <br />of the HRC's involvement in issues and with the community in <br />responsible and effective ways. <br /> <br />Commissioner Venters sought Council input on how to better <br />integrate with the Police Department. <br /> <br />Councilmember Ihlan suggested that the HRC take the lead and <br />return to the City Council with their recommendations on how to <br />measure how City staff and services represent the community <br />proactively; spoke in support of an ombudsman position and <br />block and neighborhood organizations; and suggested the HRC <br />actively focus on those issues. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pust suggested that the HRC provide a <br />leadership role in developing materials to provide to <br />neighborhood block programs to encourage organization and <br />involvement. <br /> <br />Chair Delmore advised she was currently acqUlrmg sample <br />information packets from other communities. Chair Delmore <br />further sought a member of the City's Police Department to be <br />on the HRC. <br />
