All are welcome! <br /> <br />Ms. Carroll requested that staff and City Council determine the <br />best time for them to meet on November 8, 2006 (with <br />refreshments?); and also that sufficient time be set aside on <br />December 18 for the presentation with all participants invited. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pust reiterated the community and City <br />Council's appreciation for the hundreds of hours provided by <br />members of the Steering Committee: Ann Berry, Steve Burwell, <br />Lisa Edstrom, Karl Keel, Bill Majerus, Jim Mulder, and Mark <br />Traynor. <br /> <br />7.b <br /> <br />Request of Mayor Klausing: Receive Presentation by <br />Louis Jambois, Executive Director of the Association of <br />Metropolitan Municipalities (AMM) <br />Mr. Jambois was introduced by Mayor Klausing; and <br />provided a history of the Association; uniqueness to the <br />metropolitan area member cities (76 at this time); <br />comparisons and variances with the League of Minnesota <br />Cities (LMC) and their state-wide representation of <br />metropolitan and out-state communities; and reviewed <br />some of their recent lobbying activities; and their <br />continuing work with the Metropolitan Council on behalf <br />of metropolitan communities. <br /> <br />Mr. Jambois estimated that the City's membership dues for <br />2007 would be $8,390, a two percent (2%) increase over <br />fees in 2006; and reviewed the make-up of the 190 member <br />Board comprised of a mix of elected officials and <br />professional managers to prove balance and practical <br />management solutions to metro-area problems. Mr. <br />Jambois further reviewed the development of legislative <br />policies on an annual basis. <br /> <br />Discussion included conflict resolution between and among <br />cities when necessary; cooperation of the AMM with other <br />organizations (i.e., North Metropolitan Mayors; Greater <br />Coalition of Minnesota Cities); and the AMM's advocacy <br /> <br />Councilmember- <br />Initiated Items <br />form Council <br />Meeting of Oct. 9 <br />or Past Meetings <br />
