City Council Minutes - 07/29/02
Page 3

building finishes in discussions outside the public
meeting.

Mayor K ysylyczyn sought clarification from staff and
Mr. Wentzell for the next step in the process.

City Manager Beets responded that, if the Council was
receptive to the Conceptual Site Plan presented today,
the Architect would further refine the plans and provide
fee and cost estimates as their next priority. Mr. Beets
anticipated that this information should be available at
the August 19, 2002 meeting, allowing a more accurate
cost to move forward with taking the referendum before
the voters at the November 5, 2002 General Election.
Mr. Beets requested Council assurance that these concept
plans were those being requested for which the Architect
was to provide cost estimates.

Councilmembers present concurred that they were
comfortable with the Architect moving forward with
these plans.

Mr. Beets concluded that, if possible, additional
information could be provided at the August 12, 2002
meeting, should Councilmembers have any additional
concerns that would need to be addressed, prior to the
final components being completed at the August 19th
meeting.

Mayor Kysylyczyn directed staffnot to break the
proposed $9 Million mark for the combined Police
Department and Public Works Maintenance facility
projects; and that if a special meeting were required for
further refinements prior to the decisions scheduled for
August 19th, that staff advise Councilmembers
accordingly.

Councilmember Maschka expressed his opinion
regarding some flexibility with the $9 Million within
limits, in consideration of the favorable economic
environment and current interest rates.
