The quote received had been
for $16,320 with additional funds required for additional
electrical work to remove wires, conduit, etc. Mr.
Schwartz also stated that the City would be required to
repay Federal funds in the amount of up to $52,000, which
was the total funds received for the project); and estimated
that the total cost of removal, salvage and reconstruction
of the area would be approximately $68,000.

It was confirmed that a "No Turn on Red" sign had been
installed on Lexington facing south.

Discussion included vehicular and pedestrian safety
issues; due diligence not having been performed by staff in
allowing the original monument placement; exorbitant
costs for removal of the monuments; and Ramsey
County's original approval of the monuments in their
right-of-way; and the City setting a precedent by allowing
this installation to remain.

Kysylyczyn moved, Kough seconded, that the City
Council take no action on the Larpenteur Avenue
Monument removal.

Larpenteur
A venue
Monument
Removal
