Regular City Council Minutes -11/18/02
Page 20

starting time of 6:30 p.m., rather than the current 5 :30 p.m.

Klausing amended, Maschka seconded, the motion to
amend start time to 6:30 p.m.

Mayor Kysylyczyn recommended continuing with a 5:30
p.m. start time for now, promising to put the issue of
meeting start times on the next agenda.

Councilmember Klausing withdrew his amendment to the
motion.

Councilmember Klausing further expressed concern that
the proposed 2003 Calendar had several excessive recesses
scheduled, and suggested revising the schedule to meet on
a more regular basis.

Klausing moved, Maschka seconded, revising the 2003
Calendar as presented to cancel the March 3, 2003
meeting, and schedule a meeting on June 30, 2003, rather
than recess as proposed.

Mayor Kysylyczyn spoke against the motion, stating the
proposed 2003 Calendar had 31 scheduled meetings,
rather than the previous larger calendar and explained his
rationale in attempting to accommodate city staff
vacations and work schedules. Mayor Kysylyczyn further
stated that the City Council was a part-time appointment,
without benefit, and thought it was a fair calendar of
scheduled meetings.

Councilmember Klausing expressed confusion at the
ensuing discussion.

Mayor Kysylyczyn refused further comment or discussion
and called the motion.

Councilmember Klausing asked for the Mayor to restate
the motion amendment being called; and it was clarified
that the current motion for vote was amending the 2003
Council Schedule to cancel the March 3, 2003 meeting,
