Tam McGehee, 77 Mid Oaks Lane
Ms. McGehee spoke on the upcoming December 16, 2002
regular Council Agenda item regarding a proposed mixed
use retail/senior housing unit on the property now housing
the Hamline Shopping Center. Ms. McGehee encouraged
Councilmembers to think about the community the
residents preferred to establish.

Ms. McGehee was of the opinion that the City already had
a sufficient number of senior apartments, and this proj ect
would not provide any additional tax monies, or
enhancement of the School District. Ms. McGehee
encouraged the Council to concentrate on a tax base for
young families.

Mayor Kysylyczyn encouraged Ms. McGehee to provide
statistical confirmation of her comments regarding
excessive senior housing and lack of retail opportunities.
Ms. McGehee stated she would attempt to provide the
information at her earliest convenience.
