Councilmember Klausing <br />stated that, weighing the safety benefits to the <br />neighborhood, as opposed to the convenience issues for <br />retaining access, and the fact that MnDOT was asking for <br />City support, but it was really MnDOT decision, with the <br />appeal process available to them; and that he was inclined <br />to support the motion. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schroeder spoke in his capacity as an <br />Engineer, and reiterated those comments of the audience, <br />particularly those safety related issues, and further stated <br />that after consideration, he would be voting in favor of the <br />motion. Councilmember Schroeder further expressed his <br />concern that the City be proactive in addressing tumback <br />issues with Ramsey County, future condition, <br />development (i.e., urban or rural), maintenance, and future <br />purposes of County Road B. <br /> <br />Councilmember Klausing concurred with Councilmember <br />Schroeder regarding the need for aggressive ingress/egress <br />considerations for the neighborhood's safety and part of <br />good long-term planning. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schroeder further stated the need to begin <br />discussion regarding the increased traffic at the County <br />Road B and Cleveland intersection and related needs, and <br />encouraged staff to initiate discussion with Ramsey <br />County. <br /> <br />Councilmember Maschka stated that he came into the <br />hearing unsure of his decision and commended the <br />presentations and comments of those residents speaking at <br />the hearing. Councilmember Maschka concurred with the <br />comments of Councilmembers Klausing and Schroeder <br />and spoke of the regional transportation issues; length of <br />the road created; condition of County Road B and pending <br />negotiations with Ramsey County; the short-term and <br />long-term affects on the neighborhood; and emergency <br />vehicle egress and ingress.
