He preferred the latter. <br /> <br />Councilmember Maschka commented on the past Council <br />experiment with laptops on the dais. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schroeder asked about the capability of <br />the plasma screen. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kough preferred reviewing hard copies of <br />materials. <br /> <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn spoke about his expertise and <br />credentials in video production. He does not believe we <br />need this plasma monitor. He said it might be helpful to <br />show movies to kids. He spoke to the problems in the <br />Council Chambers relating to the size and proportion of <br />the screens in the room. The only thing that is in <br />widescreen format, currently, he said, are DVD's, and it <br />may be 10 - 20 years for widescreen to catch on, he didn't <br />know. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schroeder spoke against the big screen <br />alone, preferring a "telestraighter" interactive devise or <br />more technologically sophisticated device than just the 50" <br />moni tor. <br /> <br />Councilmember Maschka also spoke to the value of <br />telestraightion. He did prefer a mobile device with good <br />resolution. <br /> <br />City Manager Beets said staff will gather prices for <br />telestraighters and make another presentation at the <br />January 13, 2003 Council meeting. <br /> <br />On another Council Chambers issue, Councilmember <br />Schroeder preferred conducting part of the meetings from <br />the floor of the Council Chambers and part from the dais. <br /> <br />Council Maschka preferred not moving around from the <br />floor to the dais during meetings. <br />
