1998 Ciry ofRoseville Re,sidential Study <br />Decision Resources, Ltd. <br />July, 19.98 <br />1Vew Community Center Facility: <br />Sixty-five percent, virtually unchanged £rom the 1990 study, favored the construction of a ne�v <br />City of Roseville Community Center. <br />• `I�wenty percent opposed it, down eight percent fram the I990 study, while fifteen percent <br />were unsure. <br />• The typical resident would support a property tax incrcase of $27_2U annually to support <br />the construction and partial operation of the facility. <br />Residents would ideally prioritizc three facilities for inclusion in a Community Center. <br />• Forty-two perccnt wanted an indoor swimming pool. <br />• Nine pe:cent supportcd a fitness room. <br />• Seven percent would include a community room. <br />Support for each of twelve specife facilities in the center varied. <br />• Seventy-ninc percent supported "an indoor swimming pool." <br />• Seventy-five perceni favored "an aerobics, exercise, and fitness room." <br />e Seventy-two percent each favored "an indoor ruruling-walking track.." <br />• Seventy percent supported "a teen �enter." <br />• Sixty-eight percent approved of "a banquet room for community mecting and rental <br />gurposes." <br />• Sixty-six percent favored "group meeting rooms." <br />• Sixty-five percent supported "a gynnnasium." <br />• Sixty-foux percent approved of "a relocated senior citizens center." <br />• Sixty-two percent favored "day care and pre-school sp�ace." <br />• Sixty percent supported "an arts and crafts room for instructional programs and classes." <br />• Fifty-six percent favored "an indoor playground." <br />• But, sixty-eight percent opposed "an additional indoor ice sheet." <br />By a fifty-six percent to twenty-one percent judgment, residents were more likely to support a <br />Roseville Coinmunity Center if it were built in a partnership with private sector businesses to <br />decrease cQnstruction costs. <br />� By a fifty-two percent to twenty-nine percent vcrdict, they were less likely to supp�rt it if <br />it included other uses on the site, such as a convention center, hotels, and restaurants. <br />Page 8 <br />
