1998 City of Roseville Resident�al Stir�i' <br />Decision Resources, Ltd. <br />July, 1998 <br />Development and Re-Develapment Issues: <br />By a seventy-three percent to sixteen perccnt judgment, residents supported the City offering <br />funding and expertise to residential property owners and neighborhoods in detcriorating areas for <br />both housing and neighborhood rehabilitation. <br />By a sixfy-nine percent to fifteen percent margin, respondents favorec� thc City of Roseville <br />acquiring blighted housing for either renovation or removal. <br />By a narxow forty-four percent to forty percent verdict, residents supported the City aggressively <br />aiding in the purchase and redevelopment of detcriorating and blighted neighborhoods as multi- <br />family housing opportunities, retail shopping, and/or commercial oftice buildings. <br />From a list of five types of devziopment, forty-six percent rated the provision af more housing <br />opportunities for young families and retirees as the "top priority" or "second priority" for thc <br />communiry. <br />• Thirty-seven percent each chose providing more head-of-household jobs and providing <br />more recr�ational and leisure time offerings. <br />• Twenty-nine percent ratcd increasing the tax base as the "top priority" or "second <br />priority." <br />By a seventy-one percent to eighteen percent judgment, residents endorsed the insti�ution of a <br />system of regular inspection of the exterior of all rental units in the community. <br />• By a �loser fifty-two percent to thirty-five percent ve:dict, residents also favored thc <br />institution of a system of regular inspection of the exterior af all single family homes and <br />duplexes. <br />Seventy-Ewo perccnt favored making the placement of utility lines underground as a requirement <br />of any new franchise agreement with the cable television company and Northern State Power. <br />• The typical resident would be willing ta pay an additional $2.14 per month on their utility <br />bills to fund the placement of utility lines underground. <br />Seventy-nine percent of seniers in the community live in single famiiy homes. <br />• Seventeen percent contemplate moving during the next decade, with one-half of this <br />group planning to stay within the City of Roseville. <br />Fifty-six percent of the 45-64 year olds in thc community have living parents or in-laws. <br />• Sixty-four percent reported their relatives did not livc "near Roseviile." <br />Page 10 <br />
