- Tighten zoning ordinances to ensure integrity of <br />residential neighborhoods and functionality of major <br />thoroughfares. <br />- Develop a plan for burying power lines. <br />. To develop, incorporate, and promote state of the art <br />methods for collecting and managing solid and hazardous <br />wastes from residences and businesses. <br />- Strong management, promotion, education, and incentive <br />programs to influence source reduction, reuse, <br />recycling, and material substitut�ons. <br />- Require container deposit fees and enco�rage returnables <br />to discourage litter. <br />- Establish recycled content standards for products <br />procured by the City (e.g. copy paper, building <br />materials). <br />- Evaluate currEntly known sites that use or store <br />hazardaus materials, and determine compiiance with <br />Federal and State laws regulating same. <br />- Sponsor entrepreneurial programs to deveZop markets for <br />recycled materials using available State and Federal <br />"market development" funds. <br />- Increase the number of outdoor trash/recycling <br />containers in publ.ic areas, especially adjacent to <br />sources that produce litter. <br />- Estab�ish collection points for household hazardous <br />waste items, such as household batteries, where such <br />paints are not now available. <br />. To deve].op strong environmental awareness and education <br />programs for Roseville's citizens and po�icy makers. <br />- Use educational materials and prograxns to elic�t citizen <br />suppart and involvement. <br />- Encourage educational programs aimed at �ur young <br />people. <br />- Review and monit�r environinental curriculum and <br />participation by Roseville district students. <br />- Increase program scope and usage of Harr�.et Alexander <br />Nature Center, particularly coliaborative progxams with <br />the Schoal District. <br />.
