Decetnber 14, 1992
Mayor and City Council
City of Roseville
2660 Civic Center Drive
Roseville, MIv 55113
Dear Mayor and City Council Members:
As you are aware, the Environmental Issues Study Group has
been meeting since October 2d to prepare a visian statement on
environmental issues for the City of Roseville. We want you to
know that we have approached our task eagerly-even passionately-
but with a degree of humility, too, sin.ce we recognized the
complexity of the ieues we were to discuss. Finding consensus
wasn' always easy.
As to the vision statement itself, please be aware that our
group feels all of the environmental gaals and strategies proposed
herein are valid and, therefore, worthy of your attention. Even
so, we reminded ourselves on several occasions that you wiZl be
conducting research into these matters as well, and that your
effort will be closely aligned with the implementation phase of the
City's comprehensive plan. With that prospect in mind, we have
appended a background statement that contains a number of
assumptions. In addition, if you wish, we are also prepared to
submit a list of recommendations that we feel has tactical value.
We cominend the City Council and the City of Roseville for the
foresight they have showri in organizing the VISTA 2000 study
groups. it speaks well of the City leadership that these efforts
are underway, and that the study groups are made up of citizen
volunteers. We are optimistic about the future of this community.
if you have questions about our proposal, please do not
hesitaie to contact me, other members of the study group, or Ms.
Laura Kushner, staff liaison to the study group.
Respectfully submitted,
Denny McClelland, Chair
VISTA 2000 Environmental Issues Study Group
VISTA 2000 Environmental Issues Study Group Members:
Diane Hilden, Vice Chair Roger Reiling
Dana Donatucci Sue Rudie
Barbara Hessburg Thomas Turba
Jack Hessburg Betty Wolfangle
