LFISIIRE
IISION
Roseville shall be a community with eisure activities
demonstrating a uniqueness that reflects its diversity,
creativity, talent, professionalism and especially the values of a
proud community. We believe that the development of activities
and programs must accommodate a varier of interests, stimulate
creativity and earning, allow for nature appreciation and meet
aesthetic, cuZtural, social, and athletic needs of al1 in the
community.
All leisure activities and facilities wi11 be accessible for al
persons, and wi11 provide opportunities far participation by all
age graups from early childhood to senior adults, and for families
as well as for individuals. AlI leisure ativities and acilities
will be af.fordable, and no resident will be precluded from
participation because of financial constraints.
Aesthetics and beauty are essentiai requirements and wi.11 be a
common quality throughout aZl facil.ties and leisure areas. This
wi11 be especially important for a city which has a high level of
commercial deveZopment and is crisscrossed by arteriai highways.
Formalized interagency cooperation between all levels of volunteer
agencies, County, State, School Districts and City government will
be essential to maximize the mutual benefits ta thE community and
the agencies.
This vision can become a realty_by developing a comprehensive
master plan for financing and implementng the maintenance of
existing facilities, acquiring property, developing new parks and
trails, pathways, constrcting new facilities, and creating new
programs based on priorities established by representative
cammissions.
GOALS
Parks
To maintain and expand the pub:ic spaces that offer leisure
facilities and activities.
- Upgrade existing athletic fields through such techniques
as irrigation, lighting far select fields (softball,
football, and soccer) and the lengthening of ball field
fences to regulation size.
- Build new athletic fields, thus allowing existing fields
to be set aside far renavation and rest.
- Create "Vest Pocket" neighborhood parks, allowing
].eisure opportunities closer to home and maximizing open
space availability for all ages.
