VISTA 2000
Public Safety Commitee
I. Deining Public Safety
W6o Are We?
Roseville is "home" to thousands, but our community includes many thousaulds mare - those who
work, market, worship and play here. No notion of public safety is camplete without
understanding, we speak of our complete communiry, not only ttiose who reside here.
What Is It?
The essential elements are:
- a shared community value of respect and accornmodation to and for others;
- a common community understandirig that peacefulness and contentment
are values of importance;
- an acceptance of the prense that individuals within a community have
respansibilities and accountabiliries to others within the community; nd
- a measured balance between individual discretion and a communiry need
for orderliness.
How Is It Achieved?
- 6y designing and implementing plans, strategies and actions to prevent, to
mitigate and to minimize pmblems of individual safery from hazards which can be
controlled; and
by anticipating to the fullest extent possible those hazards to individual
safety which cannot be controlled and have in place plans, strategies and
resources to respond as quickly as possible to those hazards.
II. Our Vision
As we look to our future, Vista 2000 and beyond, we see Roseville as a community with minimal
fear and worry over personal safety by our residents or the potential for significar►t loss of
property. This feeling of safety comes because we are a community of thoughtful and caring
people who place great emphasis upan prevention, planning, and prompt response to requests for
emergency assistance, and we have implemented plans to mitigate and ameliorate public safety
problems.
