�r��x xs���� <br />The Transportation Study Group has identified several issues <br />which it shares with other Vista 2000 Study Groups. Some of the <br />most impartant are listed below: <br />Environmental: <br />Control of noise <br />Control of water and air pollution <br />Protection of wildlife areas, including safe crossing for <br />wildlife in critical areas <br />Beautification of projects along roadways, parking lots, <br />cQinmerciai areas, and non-motorized pathways <br />Encouragement af the use of mass transit, van pooling, and <br />car pooling <br />Safety: <br />Security along roads, shelters, pathways, and parking lots <br />Safe design af pathways, bikeways, shelters, and parking lots <br />Enforcement of rights of pedestrians and bicyclists <br />Infor�nation on road and street design, including curbing options <br />Requirements that high voltage transmissian line corridors <br />be kept free of development <br />Requirements that the location of additional high voltage <br />transmission line corridors in Roseville not be allowed <br />Requirements that pipelines be inspected regularly by the <br />Minnes�ta Office of Pipeline Safety <br />Requirements that pipeline easement areas be kept cZean of <br />treesF outbuildings; stored materialsr �tc_:, <br />Development af educational programs to combat the problem <br />of drunk driving <br />Development of safety education programs for the operators <br />of both motorized and non-motorized vehicles <br />Leisure: <br />Transportation to and from ieisure activities <br />Encouragement of leisure activities which require little or <br />no vehicular transportation <br />Encouxagement of the development of neighbarhood centers for <br />recreation <br />Development of system of non-motorized pathways between and <br />within parks, including facilities far skateboards, in-line <br />skates, and bicycles <br />Housing: <br />Plan for adequate and appropriata transit services <br />Plan for nearby canvenience and recreation centers <br />Link up with established non-matorized pathway system <br />Economic�Development: <br />Consideration of transit issues in advance af land or <br />building development <br />Design of plans which reduce traffic congestion in <br />established areas <br />Assistance in encouraging qua3ity of life issues, <br />beautification, and cultural activities <br />-8- <br />
