OTHER SPECIFIC I�AS$ TRANSIT BIIaQEBTIONB <br />The foilowing are general act�vities to be considered the <br />foliow-up ta the Transportation Study Group's work. They shauld <br />be reviewed and evaluated by the proposed Vista 20U0 Standing <br />Advisory Commission. <br />Request that the RTB and the MTC make greater use of surveys <br />among present and patential transit riders when planning <br />changes in suburban bus and van services. These surveys <br />should be sure to include peoQle who are transit dependent <br />due to age, disability, or economic circumstance. They <br />should alsa include individuals who live or work in <br />multi-occupant buildings, shopping centers, schoois, and <br />colleges. <br />Request the RTB and the MTC to make greater use of mail or <br />newspaper delivery of new transit schedules and similar <br />promotiona]. materials to b�th hames and businesses. <br />Request the Ramsey County Regional Railroad Authority to <br />determine the preferred alignment of the proposed St. Paul <br />Northwest Corridor light rail transit line through St. Paul, <br />Falcon Heights, Roseville, and Arden Hills. Request that the <br />line be planned to provide through service to both downtown <br />Minneapolis and downt�wn St. Paul. Send copies of this <br />request tQ the cities of St. Pau}., Falcon Heights, and Arden <br />Hills. <br />Establish transit-related design criteria, based on the <br />number of daily person trips generated by major new or expanded <br />buildings to be constructed in Roseville. <br />Monitor the effectiveness of the high occupancy vehicle lane <br />in I-394 to determine if similar lanes proposed for Highways <br />36 and 35W would be sufficiently beneficial. <br />-5- <br />
