The City should consider this means of regulatian. <br />Closely monitor charitable gamblinq, but da not restrict the <br />number of licenses within the community. <br />Monitoring without restricting the number of licenses was an <br />approach which split the sample down the middle: <br />SUPPORT ...................................48� <br />OPPOSE ....................................48% <br />DON'T KNOW/REFUSED .........................5� <br />This is a very divisive approach to the issue. <br />Monitoring with no restrictions on the number of licenses <br />drew higher support from: <br />* Renters <br />* 25-34 year alds <br />* $25,000-$37,500 & $62,500-$75,000 yearly income <br />households <br />Only $37,500-$50,000 yearly income households registered <br />significantly higher opposition. <br />Before implementing this type of approach, a vigorous public <br />information campaign would be required. <br />Have the City actuaTly take-over the manaqement and aperation of <br />al� iawful cbaritable qamblinq. <br />Almost three-quarters of the sample opposed the city taking <br />over the management and operation of aIl lawful charitable <br />gambla.ng enterprises: <br />SUPPORT ...................................18$ <br />OPPOSE ....................................74% <br />DON'T KNOW/REFUSED .........................8� <br />Support was eighteen percent. <br />Senior couples and retirees more often favored a municipal <br />takeover. $50,000-$87,500 yearly income households were much <br />more apt to oppose this approach. <br />97 <br />
