REDEVELOPMENT AND TRANSPORTATION <br />Roseville residents were asked a series of questions about <br />future redevelopment preferences and transportation needs. While <br />supportive of some types of new development, there is also a <br />clear antipathy toward more retail shopping malls. The concern <br />about ma�ls stems in great part from existing traffic congestian <br />on city streets. "NIMBY" -- "Not in my backyard" alsa tempers <br />enthusiasm for more development. While the community is <br />certainZy not anti-growth, planners will need to take into <br />account these citizen sensitivities. <br />Loans for Housinq Rehabilitation: <br />Roseville residents were asked a pair of questions about <br />loan programs to underwrite the costs of home refurbishing. They <br />were initially queried about a general program: <br />Would you favor or oppose a city <br />operated loan program to home owners <br />to pay the costs af repairs to brinq <br />a house up to code standards? Do <br />you feel stronqly that way? <br />Sixty-three percent supported the program; thirty-two percent <br />opposed it: <br />STRONGLY FAVOR ............................22% <br />SOMEWHAT FAVOR.. ..........................41% <br />SOMEWHAT OPPOSE ...........................18$ <br />STRONGLY OPPOSE ...........................14% <br />DON'T KNOW/REFiJSED .........................5� <br />By almost two-to-one, then, respondents favored the program. <br />Blue Collar househoids, 25-34 year olds, and $12,500-$25,000 <br />yearly income households were most often ��strongly favorable." <br />Senior coupZes were more often "favorable." 55-64 year olds were <br />117 <br />
