<br />City Council Regular Meeting - 12/04/06 <br />Minutes - Page 26 <br /> <br />8.a Request of Councilmember Kough: Consider Feasibility <br />Study for Wind Turbine Power for Skating Center <br />Councilmember Kough sought to bring in a company <br />representative selling alternative power sources for city <br />facility (i.e., wind turbine power) for a presentation to <br />Councilmembers; in an effort to reduce the high utility <br />costs for those facilities, particularly at the OVAL. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kough advised that the turbines could be <br />used without propellers, thereby reducing any noise <br />concerns from area residents. Councilmember Kough noted <br />that, following that presentation, the Council could refer the <br />matter to the Parks and Recreation Commission for further <br />study and recommendation. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pust questioned the value of a presentation <br />from a salesperson; however, suggested that a presentation <br />from an interest group with broader expertise and <br />recommendations may be helpful and provide a more <br />neutral avenue for information gathering. <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing suggested the discussion be held at the <br />January 2007 Study Session; and staff was directed to seek <br />additional information and possible presenters to provide <br />their expertise to the discussion. <br /> <br />S.b Settlement Proposal- Liquor Violation <br />City Attorney Anderson provided a Bench Handout, <br />consisting of an e-mail dated November 30, 2006 from City <br />Attorney Anderson to Interim City Manager Chris Miller <br />entitled, "Settlement Offers on Liquor Violations and <br />attached Old Chicago Settlement Letter (attached). Mr. <br />Anderson apologized for not having it included in the <br />Council packets, but noted that they had already been <br />distributed when he received the settlement offer; and <br />noting the upcoming hearing dates scheduled for mid- <br />December, prior to another scheduled Council meeting. <br /> <br />Mr. Anderson noted that both Old Chicago and Green Mill <br />had appealed City Council decision related to rescinding <br />former City Manager Beets' penalty and imposition of <br />
