Commissioner Venters expressed his desire <br />140 to receive comments from all parties and put the document in good fortn prior to its presentation <br />141 to the City Council. <br />142 <br />143 City Manager Malinen advised Commissioner Venters to contact lhe City's Administrative <br />144 Secretary to schedule time. <br />145 <br />146 Chair Delmore asked that Commissioner Venters try to set up the meeting in the late afternoon <br />147 so she coulc� also attend. <br />148 <br />149 Suying Books for Schools <br />150 Vice Chair Bosch provided a handout on her research on the "Families AIl Matter" curriculum <br />151 and reader training provided by "aMaze." <br />152 <br />153 <br />154 <br />155 <br />156 <br />l57 <br />158 <br />159 <br />1.60 <br />b1 <br />lb2 <br />lb3 <br />lb4 <br />lb5 <br />166 <br />167 <br />168 <br />169 <br />170 <br />171 <br />172 <br />l73 <br />174 <br />175 <br />176 <br />177 <br />178 <br />179 <br />Discussion included the schools with in the City limits rather than in the Roseville School <br />District (i.e., Central Park, Brimhall & Parkview Center School}; volunteer roles and <br />opportunities to help implement the program; books currently available at those participating <br />schools and poiential books. <br />Commissioner McGehee suggested that the School Librarians provide their preferred books to be <br />purchased by the HRC. <br />Chair Delmore advised that she had notified Ms. Curti that funds for the book purchase were to <br />come from 2007 HRC funds. <br />Commissioner McKenzie said ways to effectively engaging citizens was missing and suggested <br />the HRC pay for training five rnentors or parents. <br />Further discussion included how and who to recruit as readers for training, content and intent of <br />training, potential involvement of school PTAs and ways to enhance the program and increase <br />communication with citizens. <br />Commissioner Bosch moved and Commissioner Venters seconded approval of moving forward <br />with the "All Families Vlatter" curriculum; amending the December motion for the three schools <br />(i.e., Central Park, Brimhall and Parkview Center School) for a donation of books in the amount <br />of $125 per school for books, in addition to $100 for a reader training program; with a total <br />expenditure of $475, rather than the original allotment of $500. Motion carried 6/0. <br />Vice Chair Bosch said she would work with the schools representatives with which she had <br />already made contact <br />180 Other <br />181 City Manager Malinen asked whether the I�C preferred that the Essay Contest presentation be <br />182 at the City Council meeting of February 11 or February 25, 2Q08. By consensus, Commissioners <br />83 chose February 11. <br />
