Motion ca.rried 4/0. <br />Forum on Race/D�iversity Training Planning <br />Chair Delmorc introduced guests Nancy Hite, Co-Chair of the City of Shoreview Human Rights <br />Commission, and Loudi Rivamonte, United Way's Cultural Dynamics Committec Coordinator. <br />31 Nanc� Hite, Co-Chair of the City of Shoreview Human Rights Commission <br />32 Ms. Hite reviewed the City of Shorcview HRC's focus from children to engage adults and <br />33 increase their awareness of human rights and cultural issues. Ms. Hite said the United Way <br />34 model best fit their necds based ori their positive approach. She used the United Way program <br />35 and personnel in planning the dialogue. The Unitcd Way provided planning, informational, and <br />36 educational materials; ihe United Way's website was a great resource and the expertise of their <br />37 staff in partnering with ihe City. Ms. Hite noted thaE previous initiatives tied by Shoreview had <br />38 not been well attended, but by partnering with other entities, they were able to build a base from <br />39 the inceprion and brainstormed potential comrnunity pariners to develop a list ihat was dividcd <br />40 among each HRC Commissioner to contact potential partners. <br />41 <br />42 Discussion included Roseville resources, importance of making personal rather than mailed <br />43 contact with potential partncrs, not just funding sources but creating buy-in for the parCners — <br />44 ihrough volunteers or money — vvith each sending a representative to the planning committee and <br />�5 encouraging them to bring people with their individual and corporate perspectives to the forum. <br />
