2 <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />Present: <br />Absent: <br />Others Presez�t: <br />Call to Order: <br />City of <br />�� <br />Mionesote, U5A <br />Human Rights Commission <br />DRAFT — Meeting Minutes — DRAFT <br />January OS, 2007 <br />Chair 3anet Delmore; Comxnissioners Bob Venters; Tam McGehee; <br />Thelma McKenzie; and Marie Oftelie; with Vice Chair Pam Bosch. <br />Commissioner Philip Crump had previously advised that he would be <br />unavailable for tonight's meeting. <br />City Manager Bill Malinen and Recording Secretary Sheila Stowell. <br />Chair Delmore called the Human Rights Com�nission (HRC) meeting to <br />order at 7:00 p.m. <br />Approval of Minutes <br />Commissioner Oftelie requested a typographical correction on page l, line 41 to define <br />"disability" and "aging" as separate topics. <br />Chair Delmore requested the minutes reflect that HRC Commissioners werc unaware of funding <br />for recording secretarial services for their meetings were allocated to the HRC Budget. <br />Commissioner Venters moved and Cornmissioner McGehee seconded approval of the December <br />11, 2007 meeting minutes as amended. Motion carried 5/0. <br />26 Information Receptacle at City Hall <br />27 As previously discussed, an information receptacle is available at City Hall for research and <br />28 information related to Human Rights interests. <br />29 <br />30 Commissioner Oftelie presented City Manager Malinen with her collection of new resident <br />31 packets and brochures in addition to infortnation she'd collected from the State Human Rights <br />32 conference which included the City of Bloomington's HRC Work Plan and annual report. <br />33 <br />34 Training DVD from State Human Rights League <br />35 Discussion was held on the 4-topic training DVD provided by Chair Delmorc. Consensus was to <br />36 ask Commissioncr Bosch to review the DVDs; and if she did not havc time, to bring ihem back <br />37 to the HRC agenda for the possibility af each Commissioner to choose one to review and report <br />3 S back to the HRC. <br />39 <br />40 Update on Essay Contest/Meeting in February <br />41 Winners of the 20Q7 Essay Contest, per e-mail information received from Ms. Curti, and <br />42 following review and ranking by cach Commissioner were as follows: <br />43 First Place was Essay # 115 at 189 points <br />44 Second Place (tied) were Essays #2l0 and #220 <br />45 Third Place was Essay #26 at 184 points <br />46 Three hanorable mentions went to Essay #s 61, 214 and 222. <br />
