Discussion included whether to involve five students <br />5 chosen from those essay contest entries and coordinating with Carolyn Curti on logistics and a <br />6 vehicle. <br />7 <br />9 <br />�a <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />l5 <br />16 <br />Chair Delmore and Commissioner McGehcc advised they didn't wish to participate in the <br />parade. <br />Generic Complaint Form <br />Discussion was held regarding a generic complaint form was held with City Mana�cr Malinen. <br />Commissioner Venters suggested a format similar to the City of Minneapolis' S-1-1 service for <br />residents. Consensus was that the impartant goal was to enhance communication and garner <br />respect. <br />17 City Manager Malinen and Commissioners discussed the HRC's role in the complaint process, <br />18 with City Manager Malinen's initiai reaction was that the City tldrriinistrative Office and staff <br />� 7 shouid handle cornplaints and qucstioned whether the puzpose of thc HRC �s a body was <br />20 intended to serve in the function of complaint takers ar to provide education and recommend <br />2l programs to the Ciiy Council related to human rights. <br />22 <br />23 City Manager Malinen expressed interest in a generic camplaint/coanpliment foz� to solicit inpul <br />24 from people and receive feedback rather than for the purpose of addressing individuai behavioz <br />25 issues. <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />29 <br />3Q <br />31 <br />32 <br />33 <br />34 <br />City Manager Malinen and Chair Delmore agreed to meet for further discussion outside the HRC <br />meeting. <br />Commissioner Higbee suggested a form be developed for distribution at the July 4`h park event. <br />Coznmissioner McGehee suggested a way for the public to go through the website for a form, <br />rather than needing to personally contact City Hall. <br />35 City Manager Malinen updated the HRC on the revisions cu.rrently urnderway on lhe City's <br />36 website to make it easier to navigate and provide more uniformity between departments; and <br />37 suggested the HRC provide input to staff (Tim Pratt) on a potential page that would educate <br />38 people about the HRC and how ta contact them, Commissioner Crump volunteered to contact <br />39 staff to configure the HRC section of the website in a more user-fricndly way to provide an <br />40 opportunity for feedback and to allow the HRC nnore iirnely content. City Manager Malinen <br />41 noted he would advise Mr. Pratt to contact Commissione.r Crump. <br />42 <br />43 Ci.ty Manager Malinen also noted that he would be discussing with and advacating the use of <br />44 community surveys to determine sentiments af the community and how to better manage <br />45 resources. Mr. Malinin suggested this may be another avenuc for feedback for the HRC with <br />46 questions related to cultural differences and inclusion. <br />
